Blogging break ;-(

Well I've decided that I need to take a break sadly from blogging for at least a week...?
Things are piling up and maybe you noticed my postings have been slight during the past couple weeks.
#1.) It's the start of a new school year with a big change in my schedule so little planning time at school which of course means like every other teacher in the world I end up bringing the stuff home to complete...
#2.) HAPPY TIME next weekend! My son is getting married so I will be the Mother of the Groom this time! The wedding is in CT; most of the guests will travel to attend. We have guests coming from MI, Denver,CO, FL, VA just to name a few areas, the Bride's side has us beat.......many of Claire's family and parent's friends are coming over from England. We're going to have a grand time, many wonderful memories will be created I'm sure.
BUT wow talk about STRESS TIME!!! So much to do so little time!
So back to the warning of break time from blog....I have 3 days of sub plans to work on so I need to get focused.......then wedding stuff.....then sadly think I am loosing a tooth so have that to contend with too! ;-(........geeezzzzzzz when it rains it pours! ;-)))))))))
See you soon!
PS: Almost completed with the quilted JUST MARRIED sign!

here it is.........

Picked up my dress.

So wow my son is getting married in 2 weeks!!! I picked up my dress today and have decided I'd better not post the dress but will share with you a piece of it.....Will gladly post after the wedding! ;-)
The girls in wedding are in silver, mother of bride in a deep blue and I am in plum, looks wine...... I'm sure the next two weeks will fly by.....
I have my first day of students Monday but also still have to complete the "Just Married"sign, which is to be a quilted cloth sign ;-) can post it so far but might be hard to imagine how it will look until it's completed. I intend to work all day tomorrow on it, and of course each day after till it's completed....... lol lol.....gotta love these last minute ideas and deadlines.........and I have homework for school to work on also.......
I'm thinking the sign is going to be cute!
Off to bed......got a busy day planned for tomorrow.

Saturday.....one more day.....

So sadly the weather sucks today in Denver.......didn't stop Caleb and I from our trip to Golden this morning, we just had to skip the Arts festival since it was pouring too much.....
We did bundle up, he in his stroller covered in plastic and me in a plastic poncho....so our back up plan was to visit the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum: http://www.rmqm.org/
Golden looked like a really cute town but it was so rainy we sadly could not walk around........
Caleb has been a dream while mommy and daddy have been gone.....and lucky for Keli and Nate they have good weather wherever they are...Keli said they had great campsite last night and then took great hike in the mountains seeing many waterfalls........
One more day to enjoy Caleb then back to reality hard!

Friday.....only 2 more days.....

Well wouldn't you know it? It's cold and rainy today.........cold = 60-65 degrees which after being used to 85-100 degrees it feels cold...Keli and Nate will leave this afternoon for a couple days of alone time....they are hoping since they are going on the other side of the mountains the weather will be nicer, or so they hear? Myself well Caleb and I still have plans to go to Golden for arts festival or worst we'll go inside to the Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum, something I've always been meaning to go to while visiting yet never had time for. Anyway I brought some of the material I dyed a few weeks ago with me to Denver and some coffee filters so I could try a technique one of my guild members demonstrated.....how to make easy circles for applique. It's a really kewl technique and now I hope to try it with tissue paper for other shapes when I get home. Might be an easy way for my middle school students to try some shape making and simple quilting.
Also before I decided that quilting was my niche I actually dabbled a little and had the opportunity to take a class from Lucky Shie (Susan Shie )http://www.turtlemoon.com/ in 2000, here is my first artquilt completed during my class with Susan. ;-)) it is fun seeing it again and brings back great memories! You can see it's a whole cloth quilt with airbrushing...and Susan's "Lucky Shie type of quilting." I recommend a class with Susan anytime!

Let's go to the park!

It's quite handy to have a park a few blocks walk away........ and yep Caleb has no fear, he climbs everywhere, so grandma got to do the slide, over and over......See that big slide? ouch.......
Then we played with the ball........ what fun!
Wow it's already Thursday......my summer break is almost over ;-(

Shoe shopping!

So I am starting to remember what fun ;-0 it is to keep up with a youngin.....
As you can see from the first picture Caleb gets up running and raring to go!
So today we started the day off shoe shopping......but if you can tell from the photo's Caleb is quiet active so he kept grandma running around the store. We got the shoes ;-) also had a nice morning and now mommy is off to work and Caleb napping and grandma putting her feet up. Grandma gets to babysit the rest of the day till mommy and daddy come home from work. :-))))

It's Tuesday......

So granny got to babysit today..and wow I sure forgot how busy a year and a half can keep you! Caleb never stops............except for his afternoon nap ;-)
So we started our day out playing in the basement then off to the park..........

What fun!

Of course all grannies I'm sure will concur.....it's all fun just hangin with your grandchild! Stay tuned....

Long day.........

Go figure......started out my day with the last day of art quilt class, I am enjoying the technique and look forward to completing the quilt but sadly (and happily) it will have to wait cause I am now in Denver.........I intend to enjoy my grandson, daughter and her hubby for 9 days then back to DC to begin the new school year........eeek!
Anyway today was long because...........we landed in I think it was Colorado Springs due to weather shutting down Denver Airport for not sure how many hours? The jest of it was my flight got delayed about 2 hours but if you notice from photos 2 hours is better than having to be stuck in Denver stranded and standing in the line to be re-booked..........what a mess........sure hope I don't have problems on way home since I have booked myself to the very last moment..........I arrive midnight the evening before I report to work........lol

Notice the Denver Gargoyle that greets us? Is he sticking his tongue out at us?
Oh well off to bed my grandson will be getting up very early.........can't wait to see him...

I'm having a great week! Great class....

I am thoroughly enjoying my 3 day class at "The Artful Quilter" http://artfulquilter.com/ w/Sheri.
I've waited a long time to have the opportunity to take one of her classes. I usually work during her sometime day classes, but then she has not taught many classes herself lately due to just being too busy running her successful shop. (Check out the website to see all they have to offer). Great shop!
Anyway back to the class; here are some pics of my first 2 days...I am enjoying all I am taking in and she is very patient with us beginners that have those sometimes screwy questions, except to us....
I am really looking forward to using her techniques and hints in my future creations. Can't wait to complete my piece, but since I fly to Denver tomorrow evening to visit my grandson Caleb and his folks....lol
Well you know, life sometimes gets in the way........
