Sept take it further

So I've joined a group online to help push me in furthering my goals. The Sept topic: lists!
So as you know if you've been following along I've been focused on this topic since last week and it HAS given me a giant push! Here is my first 12 inch quilt*. ;-) Have a little more quilting to do complete but here's a peek......Too bad it just does not photograph well. (*See my list in past posting for explanation)

Sept Challenge

So one of the blogs I follow has a Sept Challenge topic of lists! What do lists mean to you?
Handy?, necessity?, a waste of time?
For me they keep me focused. My memory is shot ;-)

I'm excited I've finally committed to a new goal of making a couple little quilts a month. Actually think my goal was stated as; "I will make a 12 inch quilt every two weeks". Somehow my 12 inches have become larger ;-)))
So finally felt in the zone tonight......here is how I completed my one top I was working on this weekend...now to get some batting and quilt it.
I think I'm going to float it in a shadow frame or on a wooded frame wrapped in wool, felt, or canvas. Any suggestions?

Nice weekend! Stayed focused....

So I am on my way..worked all weekend on some designing, organizing and even a couple possible mini quilts (was supposed to be 12 inch yet mine are turning out larger......lol) I'm trying to keep in mind my new goal!
Sadly some of my design work took too much energy.........just was not in the flow.
Today though I finally got some sewing and even began some free motion quilting on one of the pieces or could actually end up being more thread painting then free motion?
So here is a peek at what I've been up to........(I'm using some of my hand painted canvas as fabric..they all have a lot of work before completion.)

I'm trying hard to focus

So how funny is this? Working through my list I came across a couple UFOs I'd sort if forgotten! Here is a piece I made in my first quilting class in Warrenton VA http://www.kellyannsquilting.com/!
In fact the teacher is a member of the main quilt guild I belong to now. ;-) and is now my friend.......Thank you Nancy.......
Anyway you can see the pattern or technique is Ricky Tim's Convergence quilting. I enjoyed it so much I attempted a second on my own. I put these aside because I did not know how to free motion quilt or even the exact way to complete binding at that point. ha ha..... No more excuses, I've learned so much in my almost 3 years quilting? Time to get these completed! I think they will finish up nicely.
So today has been a mishmash of stuff.....organizing, trashing and now I intend to design one of the 12 inch quilts I've committed to completing every two weeks.
I've got to sign off and quit procrastinating!

Tomorrow's Friday!

So today we had a pep rally at school......the first one I can remember in my just over 4 years in VA. Think Middle School!
Also remember your days of running for student council? Gotta give our students credit for getting up in front of the whole school for speeches!
This weekend I get back to my quilting!

Bummer......

So I am back to making my lists which is helping! Sadly though I have not touch the sewing machine yet....each day I think okay so now to go home and sew.....but I am fighting my allergies big time and thus tired when I finally sit down.....lol
I did get some wooded frames built for my students to use for a rug hooking project I want them to try or we can use the frames when we make batiks, tack the fabric to them to hold the fabric tight so the wax can be put on in finer lines then in the past. Will make it easier for the students.
I have some painted canvas I did last year that I want to try some new quilting designs with....I need to put on my list new goals, push myself to produce! Maybe one 12 inch quilt a week? Might be too tough a goal right now with my new schedule at school, but hmmmmmm maybe one 12 inch quilt every two weeks? So time to commit! Think positively and take time for me!
Okay here goes.....Complete two 12 inch quilts a month. There I've made a new goal! Now to add it to my list! ;-)

Back to lists.......

How funny is it that on one of the blogs I follow the Sept. Topic is lists!
So tell me how do lists fit into your life? I KNOW that I for one need to get back to my lists...making them...then looking at them...(lol) moving forward crossing off items as I complete them.....I DEPEND on lists!
Lists keep me on track. Lists help me focus and stay focused. Now where did I put my list? ;-)
It sure is nice to have a quiet calm weekend along with this great weather. Bill & I hope by next week to be back to our norm...we're trying to keep a healthy balance between our interests/outlets along with the day to day necessity of our jobs. So in keeping with that goal I hope to be back at the sewing machine by this week.
One scary yet very exciting item: I ordered the HQ16 machine today, how exciting. That's another reason I NEED to get back to my lists and on top of everyday stuff I WANT TO make sure I am caught up so I can spend time learning and exploring my new machine when it arrives in Nov.
So where do I find myself today? Contemplating completing my class quilt from August, I'm thinking of starting a jean project my quilt guild taught us last week or just sitting and relaxing like this bird I saw at the train station in Stamford, CT.
